Jürgen Kaube

Editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung (FAZ)

Jürgen Kaube

Born on June 19, 1962, as a Swabian in Worms am Rhein. Obtained his Abitur (university entrance qualification) from the Justus-Liebig-Gymnasium in Darmstadt. Studied Philosophy, German Studies and Art History, followed by – as a Romantic addendum – Economics at Freie Universität Berlin.

Via Niklas Luhmann, the economist discovered sociology, to which he stuck. A research assistant position led him to Bielefeld, but only for a short time. Since 1992 he has been contributing to the arts & culture pages of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung; in 1999, he became a member of the editorial team, at first in Berlin, then in Frankfurt. Responsible for the “Research & Teaching” page; since August 2008 head of the arts and humanities section and since 2012 of the “Non-fiction Books” section.  Deputy head of the arts and culture department. Editor as of January 1, 2015.
