Dr. Volker Kefer, married and father of two, was born January 19, 1956 in Koblenz, Germany. From 1975 to 1977 he studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Erlangen (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg), then from 1977 to 1982 he pursued a degree in mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, where he graduated as an Engineer (diploma). In 1989 he received his doctorate in engineering from TU Munich.
Sibylle Keupen was elected Lord Mayor of the City of Aachen on September 27, 2020. In her term of office, one of her priorities will be to engage in an open dialogue with citizens and involve them in creating an agenda for the development of the city.

Former Science Minister Svenja Schulze was born in Düsseldorf in 1968. She studied German Studies and Political Science in Bochum and completed her university degree in 1968. Between 1993 and 1997, Schulze was Chairwoman of the NRW Social Democrat Youth Association, Jusos.

Reiner Priggen, born in 1953, studied Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen. He has been a member of the Green Party (Die Grünen) since 1984. Between 1994 and 2000, he was Spokesperson for the NRW State Chapter of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen.
Ulrich Rüdiger has held the position of rector of RWTH Aachen University since 2018. Born in Schöningen, a small town in Lower Saxony, Rüdiger studied Physics at RWTH, where he also wrote his doctoral thesis and habilitation. He was subsequently appointed professor for experimental physics at the University of Konstanz in 2002.

Professor Dr. Jürgen Rüttgers was Federal Minister for Education and Research between 1994 and 1998. Between 1999 and 2019, he was Chairman of CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia. From 2005 to 2010, he was Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 2011, he has been active with Beiten Burkhardt, a commercial law agency in Düsseldorf.

Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. Michael ten Hompel studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University and received his doctorate from the University of Witten/Herdecke. He is full professor at the Chair of Materials Handling and Warehousing at TU Dortmund University and managing director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics.
Dr. Karsten Wildberger, born on September 5, 1969, in Gießen, Germany, studied physics at TU Munich and at RWTH Aachen University. He completed his doctorate in theoretical physics in Aachen as a research assistant at Forschungszentrum Jülich. He also obtained an MBA from the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France.
